A new scientific article titled “Natural Hazards Vulnerability Analysis Using Trapezoidal Fuzzy AHP and TOPSIS: The Case of the Šumadijski District (Serbia)” has been published in the Collection of Papers, Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade (Vol. LXXIV, 2026).
Authored by Ivan Novković, Slavoljub Dragićević, Petar Vasić and Tijana Jakovljević, the study presents an integrated GIS‑based multi‑criteria decision‑making framework for assessing municipal vulnerability to natural hazards. The analysis incorporates 15 indicators grouped into hazard exposure, exposure of built‑up areas, and demographic vulnerability, with criterion weights determined using Trapezoidal Fuzzy AHP and municipal ranking performed via TOPSIS.
The results highlight that hazards affecting built‑up areas carry the highest vulnerability weights, emphasizing the importance of considering impacts on populated zones. According to the TOPSIS ranking, Batočina emerged as the most vulnerable municipality, followed by Rača and Kragujevac, while Knić showed the lowest overall vulnerability.
This research provides a transferable methodological framework for supporting disaster risk reduction, spatial planning, and local‑level preparedness strategies.
