From 24 to 26 April 2025, the 13th scientific conference with international participation “Planning and normative protection of space and the environment” was successfully held in Vršac. The conference was organized by the Association of Spatial Planners of Serbia and the Faculty of Geography of the University of Belgrade, with the support of the City of Vršac and the Ministry of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation. The conference brought together more than 150 participants, including eminent experts from the country and abroad (neighboring countries), representatives of the academic community, professional institutions, public enterprises, state administration, and the civil sector, as well as numerous young researchers.
Two members of the POPENVIROS team – Petar Vasić and Damjan Bakić – had the opportunity to present the project at the conference.
The product of this year’s conference will be the Proceedings, which will be published in the coming period. Three papers were prepared by members of the POPENVIROS team under the title:
“Effects of hot days on the birth rate in the capital of Serbia” (Natalija Mirić, Petar Vasić)
“Migration caused by climate change: population displacement after the major floods in Serbia in 2014” (Vera Gligorijević, Damjan Bakić)
“Climate challenges and population migration – the case of those most vulnerable to drought” (Damjan Bakić, Nevena Trnavčević).
